Contendro I Leaves Us With Elegance

Contendro at Haras de Saint-Lô in France
The Holsteiner breeding stallion Contendro I has passed away at his home, Haras de Saint-Lô, in France. He was 27 years old.

"He was an extremely endearing horse, of a rare kindness and sensitivity that left its mark on the people who pampered him every day," said his owner upon the passing of the legendary stallion. From his early carer Helmut Klein, who came every year from Germany to visit him, to the team at Haras de Saint Lô. Featuring the best young horses and ponys at the most important event of German horse breeding. "Many entries are still coming in," says tournament manager Markus Scharmann, who is looking forward to a good competition.

The expectations also take account of the time schedule. This year, the qualification for the seven-year-old show jumpers will start on Tuesday. “With this measure, we are cutting down the timetable,” explains Markus Scharmann. Also, admission is free on Tuesday. As ever, the show jumping horses form the biggest field of participants followed by the dressage horses.
